I wouldn't worry much about hp. Problem is peak torque. Of course the two are connected but you could have 500hp with 440 Nm all the way up to 8000 rpm (thus not having problems at all) or having 400 hp with 35 Nm at 8000 rpm but a peak torque of 700 Nm lets say at 4500 rpm, at which gearbox could have some problems (expecially on lower gears. Gearbox is a "torque multiplyer").

If I remember correctly we have already tryed to find out some numbers on this forum, but we didn't find any clue. If someone does please tell. I'm interested as well.

The fact RS2 gearbox has reinforced 1st gear compared to the other 6 speeds might be a worring sign, but much depends on the use.
If you use to "side-step" clutch on 1/4 mile runs your 1st gear will be VERY stressed.

Most usefull infos could be the ones coming from credible tuners. If tuners like MTM, Dahlback and others would use 3B 5 speed gearbox even on theyr 550-600 hp beasts (wich means peak torque could climb as high as 700-750 Nm) than I would not worry.

    Anyone has some usefull infos?

        Hi all,

The problem with the 5-speed gearbox is that the 5th gear is simply "pressed' onto the shaft, whereas on a 6-speed, all gears have splines and thus can't go off the shaft. Supposedly after 550 Nm, the 5th gear can simply shear off the shaft, thus you won't have a 5th gear anymore, but I can't really vouch for this as it has never happened to me or to anyone I know of...

        Cheers,
