typ85 quattro W/O diff locks ! ?

Hi,

I know it's a bit off-topic, but beleive me this is one of the last hopes to get info... so:
I have a typ85 (4000 or 80) '86 quatto , 1.8 engine .

while working on the underside we noticed that there are no diff locks. not on the rear diff nor on the middle one though it should have both. it even misses the mounting points for the locks, so they've not just been removed. of course it misses the diff lock switch panel as well, but thought it has the locks but dash changed to a non-quattro, but noooope

I've been rumored that it was a very rare european only option...
anyone ever met something like this? :O
otherwise, all 4 wheels are driven fine and drivetrain is to be replaced (every audi deserves at least 5 cyls and torsens ) but now I want to know what's going on !
I may be junking the very last piece of something !

and, for the technical part, rear diff is meant to be 'aex' code, but that should come with a lock, too....
