    1st to 2nd crutch (Fixed)

Since I have owned the car I have always got a gear crutch when changing from 1st to 2nd.

But since my incident with me putting to much oil in my car and no gearbox oil at all, and driving it. The problem has now gone away. (WARNING I'm not recommending anyone to drive with no gearbox oil!!)

If anyone has got the same problem I would recommend changing the gearbox oil it might solve the problem. And when the car has no gearbox oil in it, it might be worth putting it into all the gears a few times to knock off any bits which have built up.

I don't get any crutch now, at all not even at redline in 1st gear.

Yet more proof that despite audi saying that gearbox and diff are filled for life, they clearly do benefit from an oil change. BTDT on every quattro i have ever owned and always noticed a big difference

at 200k I descided to top up my gear box oil.

To my suprise it swallowed a whole bottle, and ever since then, my whole centre console gets hot after driving it for half hour (gear knob etc.. get hot).
the only conclusion i can come up with is that the hot oil it flowing higher up in the gearbox than before.

Ski, what sort of oil did you put in?? doesn't sound right to me that it should get that hot after only 30 minutes??

Quite possibly one of the most overlooked things on the list of things to do, along with greasing the centre bearing on the propshaft. and it is a long list with anything quattro!!!
