Tiptronic problem

Hi All,

I know this is a bit off topic but I've got a slight problem with my A6.

When it's cold the gearchange is fine but as it warms up, the change between 2-3 and 3-4 slips a little, any ideas? Could it be as simple as gear oil or a box rebuild

Can't help you with advice, but if you have to get a rebuild (although I suspect it is fluid) I may have a box which would do for a lot less than a rebuild .... Mine is a tiptronic from 2001 2.5TDI quattro, might be useable should you need it... We can take some numbers off the boxes at a later date should you need confirmation as to whether it will fit or not....!

Should be the same, although mine is a 98. Could be usefull if it's not fluid.

Box from 2.5 TDI V6 will be too high geared for the prtrol unit.

Comparison between 2.5V6 TDI and 2.8V6 with manual boxes:

2.8V6 - 25mph / 1000rpm
2.5V6 TDI - 37.5mph / 1000rpm.

Not sure how the auto / tiptronic units are geared...

The tiptronic is very High geared, probably 37.5/1000, or there abouts.

Try to change the oil and the filter at first, it maybe blocked filter.
