Thats my plan john trying to get all the bits together at the moment poss S2 shell in the pipeline as my donor .
Tuning the motor anyway with diff turbo, ecu, injector nozzles and custom map to suit .
Already got an 80Tdi avant just want something different.

              Wouldn't a 5 pot 2.5tdi motor drop straight in?
You could get some ratios from the six speed tdi box aswell.

yea toyed with that idea bry prob is i would have to find the motor ect then move the rad + wiring loom issues ,already got the 4 pot tdi and its recently rebuilt so going to stick with that at the moment.

They actually would probably work a treat. My friend put diesel ratios in his 01A box when it broke so why not vice versa? It's only very slightly longer by gearing and a bit more by final drive. Try and see how it works.

And when speaking about fast diesels, I have to comment that Finns have buit several Mercs in the 500+ hp region. Fastest quarter time is in low 12's IIRC.

there are 2 different ratios goin arond : 95% of the cars (all audi) have the 4.111; the rest have 3,889....the 4syl diesel you can rev it 6200, but the 5syl diesel you have 4600 i think( 5000 max)...the 3,889 will feel better, the tranny are longer in the gearing, and better handling.audi does use the wheels to adjust the ratio.
                          big diff on a 185/60/14 wheel and 195/65/ 15 1800mm vs 2000mm

Ahh so you think the ratios are ok thats good news ,dont want the motor to be screaming !!!!! , if the diff needs changing do you need to canage centre and rear to match with quattro?

you will se the tranny code and the rear end code( STAMPED on) then i can se if it match....you dont neeed to change the senter diff...only you need the FRONT and rear diff match..
by the way: the diesels are fastend in the engine bay like the IL5s... the arent like the 4syl on the subframe....
