by the way: the diesels are fastend in the engine bay like the IL5s... the arent like the 4syl on the subframe....
All B4 I4 engines are bolted to the chassis, like I5 motor. Only car with I4 sitting on the subframe (petrol and diesel) was the B3 80.

On the same note does anyone know if a transverse mounted VW TDi motor can be mounted longitudinally, the motor is from a 1999 seat ibiza ,just wondering if the engine mounting points and gearbox bolt pattern are the same?
      Any help appreciated.
      Thanks

yea you can use the transverse engin longitud; BUT you have to undress the block for engine mount and generator fastener and servo units: they may not fit..... and the flywheel maybee. and som paine in the A*** the oilfilter units: there are at least 5 sort of them, angel of the filter and BOLT pattern sometime you get only 3 of 4 bolst in, and sometime only 2.... sooo
AVARE of the bleed back valva inside, they may came loose, and the have to be mount correct back
