    rear differencial problems

    hi !!
i heard some noisy metall sound from the rear of mine car (coupe s2 my93) those days.... perhaps i could tell that it comes more from left side of car....but this is only guessing. this sound comes out when i had very few gas and if i withdraw leg from gas pedal at onece. sometimes it sounds also when i shift gears but only up.....
    could be this differencial?
    many thanks!!!!

Being new to S2 ownership, but having had a lot of general experience, I'd guess at diff mounts/bushes as the first place to look.

Yeh does it sound like a faint whir?

I'd get the rear diff oil changed as it is possible that your rear diff is running dry! Have the oil seals done at the same time.

The other consideration is it's coming from the prop, in that the the centre bearing needs replacing or the CV's need replacing.

There's a couple of threads detailing both.
