    Oh %ugga

Just diven round to my girlfriends, and on the way, went from first to second, when i had a bit of crunch, and now the gear lever seems to get stuck in first and second, and is a pig to get in and out of these 2 gears! Every otehr gear is fine, just these two. There is no whining or crunching when going between first and second, just really stiff. It is also a pain to get the lever out of the first second line of the gate, and back to the biased position....

    What have I done?

Common problem with 01e boxes. Just use it and it should recover quite nicely without any repair.

      Ooppsss...

Sounds like you may have lost the second gear synchro (common tranny problem iirc)
If this is the case unfortunately it is new gearbox time or have your existing one reconditioned
It doesn't sound like a cheap fix Im afraid ......but I could be wrong here.....

Well, it does seem to be getting better! I dont think its a syncro problem (it does it with the engine off too)

Its almost like the linkage is catching. Am I right in reading there is some adjustment that can be done on the linkage to set everything up?

So, this problem with 01E boxes. What exactly is it, and whats the cause. I have had a quick search around the forum and can`t find anything on it.

              Can it be sorted?

i agree with zed on this one although once apart you may as well change syncro on second as well these do get worn...
