    fitting RS4 V8 [2006] gearbox onto ABY

has any one fitted the latest RS4 2006 v8 gearbox onto any 5 clyinder audi engine? I have heard the bolt fixing looks good, but the drive shafts would need custom making [flanges diferent]. The box is apprantly the same length as the 016 5speed torson box,and weighs around 15-20 kg more than 016 box probaly only 5-10kg more than early 1992-96 6 speed. these boxs are designed to take 450 bhp so must be much stronger plus they have the 60/40 rear bias . It's the torque that destroys boxes especially in the lower gears.

Dunno i'd preffer to get another box thats a straight fit such as the EDU IIRC

          yes

i know its the tourque, but with 6-700hp you are running alot more tourque, then a standard v8 fsi engine.

I rally a ur with RS2 engine [fitted with 34 mm air restrictor] running around 330bhp,I have broke 4 gearboxs this year and 2 last year .the box I have been useing is the 016 5speed torsen as fitted to the audi 100 quattro turbo and all ur quattros from 1987,only difference being final drive ratio 4.1 audi 100,3.89 in ALL urs 1980-1991. I have a quiafe atb diff fitted in the frount[v8 in the rear]. each time the box has broke it has snapped the input shaft from the frount of the box[ at gearbox end of the clutch spline] also the teeth then strip on 2nd gear at the same time. we were told that the teeth must be srtipping first and then the input shaft would snap BUT now we think the input shaft is snapping first and we beleave that the shock load [jolt] of this then makes the teeth strip . As this is a rally car I do use 2nd gear a lot and we are also starting to think that poss the load under braking in 2nd gear and the acceleration also in 2nd gear straight after every tight corner is poss winding (stressing) the input shaft. I have read a lot on the forum about boxes and they all seem to strip teeth. I have thought about using the early 50/50 box but believe if I ran with a locked centre diff these boxes would also break as they did when Audi used them rallying. Any help and views on the subject would be appreciated. The strange thing is I spoke to the chap that owns the Audi 80 General Lee with 700 bhb, he has broken 18 gear boxes but never snapped an input shaft

Fit an upratd input shaft. I know someone who has and it hasn't failed all summer.
BTW He runs more power than the General Lee.
