Hi i am starting a S2 avant based project ,the car is a 1993 ,i have no gearbox for the car,it was originally a six speed , the question is what gearbox will have the correct diff ratio to match the rear diff either a 5 or 6 speed and what cars would these be fitted to in the audi range?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks in advance
the tranny ratio: stand between the 2 upper bolts at the clutch bellhousing: its also the year its build...... and the rear end ratio, stands UNDERSIDE the rear end housing... to the road.....
if you post it here , i can tell you about it ... or PM me

Will this say that all the 5 cyl coupe quattro's have 4,11:1 ratios in the rear diff, also the s2?? And that we can use these rear diff's on the s2? - using the driveshaft flanges from the s2 ofcause.
Yes - thats right... All B3/B4 quattro have 4.11 F/R. Be advises that sedan/avant (B4) rear diff is physically larger/longer casing... Same internals as coupe (B3) rear diff but the B3 version is a smaller package.
All type 89, B3 / B4 based Coupe / 90 quattro with 5 cylinder engine - 2,226cc 10V (KV), 2,309cc 10V (NF) and 2,309cc 20V (7A).
Type 44 Audi 100 quattro from August 1987 - 2,226cc 10V (KU), 2,226cc 10V turbo (MC) and 2,309cc 10V (NG).
All the above are 5 speed Torsen units.
These are all 4.11:1 ratio.
Small note, that one should always check ratio before buying box. Also there are two types of input shaft on typ44q. They are the same in terms of clutch, however require different bearing in the crank. If you going to fit those boxes to let's say B3 or B4, you must keep in mind this.
