    Tdi box - diff removal

    Hi guys,

    Can anyone help me figure out how to remove this shield part from the tail shaft flange as i cant get access to the centre diff housing bolts without removing it. it looks to be one solid piece... prefer to ask here first before going in there with a pry bar and hammer

    Hey mate, according to this it's a balance weight;

    The part with the rear output flange should just pop off once the bolts are removed. If it doesn't get a slide hammer or similar. If you break it, it's not my fault

      hard to explain but i've removed all bolts i can access, it's not budging. the bolts that hold the flange/cover to the centre diff are actually behind the black cylinder part and i can get to any of them cleanly - definitely dont want to strip them.

      seems that image shows the FYF which i think its actually the same as the DSY/EDU (b5 s5 style)..

      this is the s4 style:

      def not looking to break this one. some legend drove a fair way to personally deliver this lump of metal this morning!

        This is the one. It's a vibration damper.

        It looks like it should knock off. Just need to see how that seal is secured.

          This is interesting.

          Bonjour à tous, Je n'ai jusqu'à ce jour pas eu besoin de créer de post car j'ai toujours trouvé, grâce à vous tous, la réponse à mes questions d'entretiens. Mais après avoir fais le tour de différents forums, je suis cependant resté sans réponse pertinente sur le sujet qui m'amène. Donc aujourd'h...

            Yep, thing was on there tight.

            I wonder if i can actually just swap my balancer for the DSY unit and see if it will bolt up to my existing tailshaft
