    What clutch to choose?

    Hi,

As the power increases in the s2, I would need to change the OEM clutch to a new and improved one.
The 'catch' is that I'd like it drivable for an everyday situation, with a smooth pedal as in the OEM clutch, and that it's capable of handling 450+ hp on the track at the same time. I do not want the race-clutch-setting type on/off -clutch, but if thats the only way then it have to be it.
I really want to try to keep the drivability in the car without sacrificing too much.

I've searched and read through the Transmission section without an good anwser to my question and the only threads that are making a little sense is this and this.

A comment of the current setup and purposearea people are running now are also appreachiated.

    cheers,
    Anders

I'd ask Aelred, he got me a clutchnet "Carbon Fibre" clutch that felt very similar to stock for me - perhaps a little bit heavier but not excessive - and had no issues holding 400ft/lb+

I'm sure there are other otions too that you should consider...

      Cheers

I had the same issues that you are having now Anders, I had a DM flywheel, a 724 spec pressure plate (Sachs 750nm) , however changing to SM flywheel made it a bit harder, I had an organic clutch, because the pressure of the 724 is greater than the pressure on the SM flywheel plate (Sachs 707 650nm) , I though about it for a long time, the organic clutch just wouldn't be enough for me, so I went for the 4-Puck sinter with center-springs.

I must say I was really surprised of the driveability of the car with 4-puck sinter, no issues at all, I first didn't even notice any difference, but after a few 100km it became a little more "hard" to drive, but nothing big, I mean as the power increases you must have a few setbacks in driveability, and after 1500km with this clutch I don't regret a thing, the good thing is that these Sachs parts are available almost anywhere,

I paid €720 for the pressureplate, 4 puck sinter, and the throw out bearing (this is without discount, which in this case is individual so I discarded that) but if you get 10% off you get it at a really good price.

These sachs numbers are for organic clutch, so if you use a sinter clutch then you increase the specs by 30% , so the 650 nm clutch makes it up to about 840-850 nm which should be enough for a while .

If you need P/N or anything else, don't hesitate to ask.

Prosty what was the part number of the "throw out bearing"? and what is a throw out bearing? is that the release bearing?

I have the same clutch going into my car

anders,if you are not going to go above 500hp crank and about 600Nm then i would suggest that the organic from sachs would be on its limit.
i use the spec stage 3+ and havent had any issues with it.It is supposed to be rated at 550hp crank. It is a bit jumpy at first, but now it seems like OEM clutch to me
