  • RS2 second gear synchro needs work

I have contacted a couple of gearbox specialists the issue is that the second gear synchro is on its way out and needs attention, after chatting with these specialist there concern was not being able to source the parts. Are there any recommended suppliers for gearbox parts that will be able to get the required parts?

That's a PITA the six speed box's rarely require attention, Will at VRS in Northampton should also be able to help. I know he put up-rated first and second gear synchro rings in cardcrash's 'mental wheels' project.

Hopefully the dog teeth on the gear is not trashed. Happens when you ignore a bad syncro.

I will have to get the gearbox removed and have it inspected I hope they can find alternative parts because the original replacements are unavailable unless somebody has a replacement

I would consult 01E Getriebetechnik in Germany, a specialist for 01E tranny as the name says. Here, you will have the choice of various original 01E gear parts from Audi. With a slight premium, one can also select sintered tranny components including synchros. The only downside is that the owner does not speak much English.

I contacted him in English for hooking me up with a later model reverse light switch cover and can't recall having difficulties communicating. But a gearbox rebuild will need more interaction compared to my simple selector fork cover. But if needed you can find a german forum member that can help out.

Has anyone ever tried that kit and confirm that it solves the good old 1/2 synchro failiures? Comparing it's a lot easier to just put diesel box in from any other model past 96.
