I am about to send the S2 in for some work to be done does anybody have any advice before the work starts.
Center bearing.
am using the following
Quattro 80/90/S2/Coupe (B2/B3/B4)
Description
Center Bearings
Internal Diameter 30
Width 15
Hole Centers 133
Quattro 80/90/S2/Coupe (B2/B3/B4)
Product Code: CBA30133
The balancing will also be done. There is presently no vibration coming from the drive system but I feel its right to balance the shaft after working on it.
The diff bush that is installed is the original and if I use an iron bar to move it up and down and side to side it moves about 10mm. It is quite hard to move and it does return to its central position. I cannot see any damage to the rubber.
I have a Powerflex bush PFR3-107 which I bought a few years ago and will now be used.
Both jobs sound easy and are being done as preventive maintenance due to the age of the car and there is a slight knock gently coming off and going on the accelerator.
I understand this knocking is a common issue with our cars and it could turnout to be the diff that needs shimming, I hope its not.
