  • 0a3 gearbox

So.. long term project been sat gathering parts for years… will sit for another few atleast lol
b4 80q that I’m going to fit an abz v8 and a turbo too..
    Ive just bought a HVE 0a3 gearbox from a c6 3.0tdi ratio is 3.889 I’ve also got a spare b4 80 v6 quattro rear diff (should also be 3.889???)
    or I’ve got a b5 s4 01e and the original b4 80 diff.
which is better suited to 500-600hp road car.
man I right in thinking the 3.889 will give longer gearing or have I got it all wrong?

Isn't it nice to have choices!
The choice is a matter of your opinion, you might have one if you have driven the car before. Do you want better acceleration or better top speed.
If you're going to build a big turbo engine with some lag, you might want the 4.11 ratio. But depends on your own goals. The V8 might be good with the 3.89, since the engine has some low end torque.

You are correct, 3.89 is longer: simply put the gearbox output has to turn only 3.89 rotations to turn the wheels 1 turn. The difference to 4.11 is ~5%
