Thanks! Do you know how many litres they need?
A Google search yielded this:
" Gearbox and front differential: GL4 SAE 80.
3.2 litres to 22 07 5
2.2 litres from 23 07 5.
Rear differential: GL5 SAE 90. 2.2 litres.
Torque all plugs to 25Nm. "
But 20vcqdriver on classic audi has advised:
"Rear diff takes less than 2litres. The gearbox 4.5 assuming you get all the old stuff out ."

Nothing wrong with Morris EP90, I use Audi oil as I have a TPS account and it's therefore affordable...
The rear diff is a bit of a fiddle on B3 chassis, it's not technically difficult, it just take's a while to get the new oil in without making a mess.
I rig a 1/4" bore clear pipe up to a small funnel and cable tie it to the offside the rear spring, pop the end in the fill hole and gradually add oil until it's up to level, then get under the car and put the end of the pipe into an oil bottle to take the excess, unless of course your judge it just right. Trying to squirt it in using the neck on the bottle works but makes a lot of mess.
At work we use a giant syringe which is designed for this purpose, you can put as much or as little pipe on the output as you want, save's a lot of pissing about!
Make sure you can undo the fill plugs before touching the drain ones!
Forgot to say, make sure you use a GL4 oil in your gearbox. The GL5 stuff contains sulphur which will eat away your brass synchros. As Kit says, Sometimes genuine Audi stuff is surprisingly reasonable from TPS.

Hi, can anyone recommend gearbox and diff oil for my 1987 cq ?
Also, does the gearbox need removing to change the front and centre gear oil? Or is it all shared with the gearbox?
Do you have tha 016 gearbox?
There was a change in the filler plug location on the 016 type Quattro transmissions. Beginning in 9/13/1988 the filler hole was raised 15mm and the capacity increased to 2.75 qts. (3.028357592466 L (liter)).
The previous capacity was shown as 2.33 qts. (2.565844796526 L (liter)) With the new fill plug position, the transmission is full when the oil level is 7mm below the lower edge of the filler plug.
However, during repairs, or fluid changes, the transmission can be filled up to the bottom of the filler plug hole and this would correspond to filling it with 3.4 qts. (3.744151205231 L (liter)).
The rear differential takes slightly under 2 quarts (2.20244188543 L (liter)), approximately 1.6-1.8 qts. The drain and fill plugs should be torqued to 18ft-lbs (24.40Nm)
