S6 auto only drives in reverse

I bought a 1995 S6 auto and it only drives in reverse. Forward (D) it just revs but won't move. I've lifted the car level and then the wheels go forward through all of the gears. Drained the ATF and put new ATF in the gearbox and diff, as soon as it's on the ground I can only drive backwards. I've been at it for months and any feedback would be appreciated

Not sure if you've a mechanical autobox or ECU controlled, but if manual it sounds like your A clutch (forwards) is toast and you need a rebuild. If you have an ECU box, what happens if you manually select 1st gear? (instead of Drive)

I can select D, 1, 2 but car won't go forward when the wheels are on the ground. When the car is off the ground, the wheels go forward and also change gears

Did you use the correct fluid? I think they may have changed the type of fluid between the S4 and S6.

Do you know how many litres of fluid you were supposed to add? or did you just replace the same volume you drained?

As far as I know, the box takes 9.7l of ATF
