Surely the 1st question is why would you want to ?

Anything can be done. Well, you'd loose the e-diff. You wouldn't be able to use a V8 Torsen rear. You'd be using a weaker diff. But, on aositive note you'd have a lighter rear diff and also the possibility of running a LSD like a Quife.

You'd need a custom driveshaft that is either shorter or longer depending on which way you go - the B5 rear axle housing is dimensionally the same as a B4, that means it's basically a S2C housing with a long snout on it. Retain the snout and it'll be too long (you'll need a short DS), loose the snout and it'll be too short (you'll need a longer DS. The mouting points are different (the rear mount is correct though) and the bosses on the rear part are not machined - so keeping the snout would be easier... But then you'd have to fab a mount in the floor of the car...

Seriously, as I said, sure it can be done but there is NO point what so ever in going down that route. If you want to run a Quaife, well, opt for a A6 diff isntead. At least that one has the correct length - not sure but it looks that way.
