      ?

The original Ur box was designed with 400bhp in mind, the 3B box isn't much different!? I have run a couple to big mile with over 400bhp no problem and others have pushed it a lot further, but they don't like standing starts and sticky tyres... just way to much grip with 4 wheel drive, you can do things like load the tran's before doing a standing start but unless you want to expect a box rebuild just let her roll then plant the throttle:mischeif:

P.s the syncros dont like rally changes either, the box is too slow for this!

Mine has gone at 276hp. I have dismantled and found big diferences between ARV box and old 5 speed and new 6 speed boxes. At ARV no reverse sincronizer ring, and what was amazing , the 3 gear is fited by heating and pressing. After my opinion is weaker then old 5 speed boxes.
            Hope that helps

LMAO, 5 speed box was designed for non turbo cars and the old UR gearbox wouldnt fit inside the narrow transmission tunnel of the s2.

I have killed about 4 gearboxes now, all 5 speeds. They are not very strong, but the 6 speed also has weak points. I have used mine for daily driving and i have been running 450+bhp on a gearbox for 2 years (20k miles or so), then i changed to about 550bhp and the gearbox didnt last very long after that, it chewed itself up inside! Now on another s/h gearbox and that is quiet at the moment.

I must say that nearly every time it is a bearing that fails. As long as its changed in time, you should be ok. I left mine to see what would happen :O

well i am still at standard hp at mo but want to up it by about 100 hp and the gear box is a small worry at the back of my mind. but it has only just over 100k on the box and i don't realy do hard standing still starts so am hoping it will last for some time. a ur box was an idea but that was all. i have a friend that works for am in ilminster so if things go bang i am sure he can help me out. we will just have to wait and see
