    what clutch with alloy flywheel

Along with other Audi projects I am blessed with a Ur Quattro which has among other mods a 6 speed 'box. I was using a RS2 clutch & pressure plate with a one off alloy flywheel.

The problem i have is that she is just tearing the friction material off the pressure plate. I have put this down to having no damping on either the plate or flywheel (and driving like a ****)

Have any of you guy's had similar problems with alloy flywheels and how did you get around it. Thanks

    Hi Bruce,

    You found us then.

as I said to you on the other site it is because you haven't got a sprung clutch, what has the alloy flywheel been modeled on?
We have numerous clutch's we can offer.

yes, thanks. took a while before they would let me play though.

The flywheel was knocked up by steve at quattronut. it's 1 of 2 I believe. I'm having trouble getting hold of him at the moment so not too sure what it was based on.

The excisting clutch & pressure plate were off a rs2 if that helps.

      i've attached a pic.

      Thanks

Steel is an alloy comprised mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.02 % and 1.7 % by weight, depending on grade. Carbon is the most cost-effective alloying material for iron, but various other alloying elements are used such as manganese and tungsten. Carbon and other elements act as a hardening agent, preventing dislocations in the iron atom crystal lattice from sliding past one another. Varying the amount of alloying elements and their distribution in the steel controls qualities such as the hardness, elasticity, ductility, and tensile strength of the resulting steel. Steel with increased alloy content can be made harder.

Sorry, maybe i should have said hard steel. I certainly didn't say "Aluminium"

          Must be a English thing.

Ray, bit of a long story but we had 034 flywheel, but ended up selling it. Wish we didn't do that now.
