    S2 Difflock

    Hi All,
I have a ABY S2 and i am not sure that the difflock is working. I saw a post about turning it on and driving in a hard circle to see if the tyres scrub. They Didn't!

When i press the difflock button the orange light comes on but not the small green one that i have seen in photos. Has anyone got a suggestion on what might of failed or another way i can test if it working.

    Thanks Everyone,

    Rich

I'd avoid turning on tarmac in the dry with the dif lock on, it wont like that, go on gravel or sand or grass to test it.

If the green light does not come on, then either the vacuum pipe has become disconnected or the actuator arm is seized.

Jas11n posted some pictures on here recently of the vacuum pipe. It basically runs around the battery on an ABY, so you will need to lift the rear seat base to check.

The actuator arm is on the side of the rear diff and gets the full force of the road spray and so easily seizes over time (well mine did anyway) We sprayed some WD40 on it at the garage meet last year, then manually moved it in and out and suddenly it all worked.

I now test it regularly, just to keep the actuator moving, oh, and to beat the odd trouble maker at the traffic light Grand Prix

      Cheers n

If it turns out all ok under the rear seat, see this post >>> HERE where I explain the hassle I had with mine.
Sounds like I had exactly the same problem as Si (HPmuirt).
I couldn't take any pictures at the time as there was 5 inches of snow outside and I'll nearly froze to death.

All fixed! Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the help!

The purple hose had become disconnected from the t piece.
It is all tested and working perfectly!

              Cheers!
