6 speed gearbox advise please

Greetings,

I know that there have been many posts on gearbox modding/upgrading, but I wanted the most up to date opinions on this as my box has started to make very nasty noises in 1st gear

All other gears are still nice and quiet and the box still feels tight, so I assume that this is a failure of just the 1st gear, which I understand is the main difference between the S2 ABY and the RS2 gearboxes.

So, I assume I have 3 options, but which is best, which is cheapest and who do I go to for each option?

1. Pull the box and have it rebuilt with an RS2 1st gear

2. Change the box for an RS2 gearbox (I tried to buy Pisobikers but it has not happened yet)

3. Change to an S4 gearbox. I assume this is from the 340BHP V6 TT model, not the URS4.

I have all the RS2 components (Turbo, EM etc) ready to bolt on so at some point the car will hopefully be running around 365BHP, once it has paid a visit to MRC, so I will need a box that can take spirited driving with that power. All advise and opinions welcome.

I know that the casing on a rs2 box is differont to accomidate the wider first gear so you wont be able to upgrade the internals of your aby 6 speed box unless you modify the casing!

So, option 1 is out unless I rebuild it to ABY spec, which seems pointless, so I guess I need to understand which is the better box to go for and where do I go to find one?

No the later CGR boxes had the same wide 1st gear ratio as the CRB but didn't have the CRB's flexible shaft.

Thats my understanding of it.
