Hi, I know the handbook says we never need to change the oil in the gearbox/diffs, our cars are now approaching or past 10 years old now & it would seem sensible to change the oil!
Can anyone give me details on the quantities & exact types of oil to go in these?
thanx,
simon
Will have to dig up the good book on that one... There is a recommended weight of synthetic gear oil recommended PLUS a mandatory amount of VAG only special additive. I have it in the manual somewhere - remind me by PM to dig it out in the next day or so.
I thought the amounts were in the handbook ( not to hand at the moment)
I bought a load of gear oil from Audi but I didn't know about the additive Paul.
I would not suggest that you put slick 50 gearbox treatment into the box as it causes problems with LSD's and may not help Torsen diffs ( if you have one)
According to my handbook:-
Manual gearbox and final drive
Gear oil spec G50, SAE 75 W-90
Rear diff:-
Gear oil spec API-GL 5, SAE 90
Manual just has capacitys for engine oil, coolant, washer bottle:wacked: and fuel
Pls make sure that you always check the most important things such as washer fluid first!
