    Clutch won't disengage!

    Hey guys,

I thought I'd finally post up here to get some other opinions. I just had a 034 clutch and flywheel setup put in my 1993 S4, in conjunction with an early S2 6 speed (narrow first, CGR). Unfortunately, after installing it, the clutch will not disengage. Hydraulic pressure is good and we have tried fabricating a custom (longer) slave cylinder rod, but without any change. We're tearing it back apart tomorrow, but I'd really quite appreciate any suggestions you folks might have on what may be causing it. 034 has suggested a spacer is attached to the transmission, mounted inbetween the engine and transmission. Would any of you know of this, or be able to help me find threads with further information on this spacer?

    Thank you!

    Corey

I have heard of a spacer in between IIRC its something to do with the differences between a 3b and aby clutch/duel mass flywheel and the gearbox.

Thanks Acidburn. I don't suppose anyone else would have any more information on this spacer, would they?

Could be that the Spec pressure plate broke the retainers ... look here ...

I wouldn't recommend any of Specs products , thers enough proof that ther **** and you wont get your money back when they dont work. ( or at least i didn't)

Thanks for the link Acidburn .

Faheemo, I read about all of the problems you've had! WOW, that is BRUTAL. Did you end up going with the Sachs unit? Also, were you able to see the spacer from below the car? IE: Is it a spacer between the transmission housing and the engine? If you are supposed to be able to see the spacer from below the car and we can't, I'd like to get a second flywheel and clutch setup ready for when the car comes apart. Thank you!

If the 034 flywheel is designed to replace the original urS4 flywheel then you shouldn't need the spacer. If the flywheel is of S2/RS2 design then you will need a spacer. I snapped a pic of the rs2/s2 spacer and flywheel for ya. It's a bit blurry, but you get the idea. If you do need the spacer the Audi part number is 01E 103 551. I sent you a PM too, BTW.
