I found the gunsons eazybleed did the job for me. Took a couple of mins once set up.
When you sya you put a pipe on the nipple and slackened it, you was not leaving it there and expecting it to bleed itself? Sorry not trying to be cheeky!
I would be going down the easy bleed route as you could be making it worst.......I take it your friend press's the pedal and and nipple loose then tightened when the pedal is brought back up ?
Its also worth noting that the bleed nipple has to be undone a fair amount before it really lets the fluid pass through.. As we have very liitle room for manouver down there, you need to take the spanner off a couple of times just to get the nipple open enough. This is where the easy bleed makes life easier. Just pressurise the reservoir, then you can open the nipple up fully, let it bleed, and then do it up. Job done.
Where you guys are doing the loosen pump and re-tighten method its really really hard to get the nipple open enough.
Sounds like um, sound advice from Waad. I think you will struggle trying to bleed the classic way.
Gunsons easybleed all the way for me.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Steve.

another vote for the easibleed, i did my brakes and clutch when i finally got mine back on the road for the ring, brake pedal was solid and clutch with is a biatch of a job was a sinch with that. Definately needs a good wind out to get the fluid coming from the slave and is a PITA to tighten up properly again to save the air going in on the return.

Tell me, how do I know that there is nothing wrong with the clutch itself?
Is this how the system should feel with no fluid in it: pedal being pushed either fully out, or fully in by the springs?

with no fluid or as i found when i pressed mine in with no gearbox on and shot the slave seal out, the pedal shot to the floor and needed to be pulled back up.
So, in short......YES
