On My Minor having changed from a standard 4.11 diff to a 3.9 diff and also a 3.75 diff I can assure you that all the performance goes from the bottom end. I tried a more powerful Midget engine which was all top end power and no torque. I now have a high torque engine which is greata with the 3.9 diff and high profile tyres, which are the same mph/rpm as the 3.75 with low profile tyres.
All I can say is it is horses for courses.
Most people would want an all round performer and not something which is beaten away from the traffic lights by a 2CV but will do 180MPH......
