Yes - definately been looking at E85 as a choice - the number of stations is slowly growing in the UK (Morrisons, actually) - there's one in wellingborough, too, near the pod. Definately more reasons to shop there! Emissions should be down, too - I wonder if I'll be given a discount off the congestion charge?

With up to around 1800cfm of hot air on tap, I'm incorporationg water injection and also have another trick up my sleeve, which I'm hoping will have a substantial effect. I'll have to wait and see if it works - only a rolling road and exhaust temperature sensor will tell!

I'm also designing the engine bay to try and facilitate the passage of air through it. I don't know how much of a difference it will make, but I'm trying anyway!

i would suggest a V-mount cooliing set-up, but you'll be pushed for space by the sounds of it.. you are going to need a 5" thick cooler at least, maybe even a bigger custom job

In an ideal world, a V-mount would be spot on, but with the Mk2 golf engine bay being so short, (and limited by the front axle to front bumper distance), I don't really have room for a horizontal radiator on the front. As a result,I'll be mounting the rad in the boot, as more and more custom performance cars are. The intercooler will be a full-frontal affair with ducting, although I'm not sure how deep it will be, since cooling gains reduce significantly with each extra inch of depth. I've a few more ideas on this issue!

Naturally, with the (fingers-crossed) power, I'll be generating stupid amounts of heat, so the radiator system is going to have to be ridiculously large (more god-damned, cotton-picking weight). Again, I've a few more ideas on this one!

Here's a link that might help Jonus racing Audi 90 quattro(1065hk)

if any one can translate this it would help some bits are obvious

Transmisjon: S6 5vekslad med stum mellan diff i år. ombygda akslar fram samt nya raceakslar bak från i år. "stora" diffen bak. Alt stumt monterad. Ny 3skivig tilton koppling mot stål svenghjul.

            Thanks for that, shortsport

With my expert Swedish translation skills (ahem), I get:

transmission S6 5vekslad with mute among diff in the year. am rebuilding akslar underline and also nya raceakslar at the back from in the year. "superb" difference at the back. All mute mounted. Fresh 3skivig build up connection anti steel svenghjul.

Guessing 5vekslad is 5 speed? Could akslar be axle?

Either way, apparently the above makes a "superb" difference to the back!

Please keep those links coming, sometimes you do get real gems of info out of our fellow european tuners.

I'm picking up my AAN engine and S6 quattro transmission at the end of this month. Big thanks to Corey @ quattronics

Rich, good luck with mounting that FMIC bacause from what i`ve tried there is no room at all, i mean the front pulley sits about 1/2 an inch behind the grill (twin coolers possibly).

I think its far more important to maybe sacrifice the size of the cooler and have a duct/shroud to direct the air through it, and i totally agree that a cooler depth of over 4" would have very minimal gains maybe none due to the air flowing around it bacause of no room for proper ducling and a massive pressure drop.

It will be interesting to see how efficient my charge cooler system is with a 80l/m pump and large pre-rad under the back floor feeding the chargecooler with 1" water lines and helping balance the car further.

Gnutz2 - please definately keep me updated on what kind of inlet/outlet temperatures you're getting on your Charge Cooler, and also if you get any kind of loss of cooling, after you've been hammering the car for a while. How much fluid do you think will be in your charge-cooling system?

I guess the other alternative is to stretch the front wings and bonnet by 4 inches to give me room - By no means ideal, in terms of a Mk2's proportions and lines, but then we are creating monsters!

How did your front driveshafts line up with the hubs, in the end?

Dont know how much water the charge cooler will take but i`ll try measure it and log as much info about the engine when it`s mapped and running good.

The drive shafts are fine even after i moved the engine about an inch further back from standard, drive shaft CV joints are better run at an angle anyway.

Yeah I read that - spreads the wear, I believe. I was hoping there would be a little more room to move the box back, but it looks like you're about as far back as I would want to go.

Starting figures are always handy, as they allow you to make calculations if you ever need to change anything.

When do you think your car will be up and running for testing?

Get a 6 speed box and get it cryoed - sorted.

I've a friend who had his gear cryoed and it made a big difference.

I'm going with the quattro gear and lump from the S6 Corey has and will keep it all standard for fitting, then sort it out when I paint the car and uprate the engine internals. Collecting the gear at the end of December!

Sorted! Thanks to everyone for their input

any idea of cost of Cryo treatment.. never heard of anyone gettting it done before, but it has the potential to double the strength of the box, if not more
