    Rear Diff Oil Leak

    hi all!

Just had my S2 on the ramp at work, the rear diff is really chucking out oil now. i think its coming from the drives side driveshaft flange seal. whats the deal with these, easy, pain? ive read a few threads on here with mixed views...

going by this its fairy straight forward? http://www.s2-audi.co.uk/tech_articles/r_diff_seal.htm

    any advice?

      Is right!
The only thing is that you should remove the filer cap to be able to refill the oil.
      I recomend change both ones.

true.....might be easier to drop the diff and unsieze the drain and fill bolts and do both oil seals. probably better with 2 sets of hands but you can change the diff oil seals on the car..BTDT

so we recon that this can be done on the axel stands (id have to do it over a weekend).

ive heard that the left side is alot tighter cos of the exhaust. so if this side is dry im going to give it the old if it aint broken dont fix it moto

Measure old seal installation depth. It is possible to install new seal too deep.
