Saw this RS4 Gearbox for sale on e-bay.
Anyone know if it would be a direct replacement for the 016 and any difficulties of fitting it in a typ 85 car?:mischeif:
many thanks
Chris
it will bolt to your engine but i have heard conflicting storys of whether there needs to be metal chopped from the bulkhead on a t85, only car i can think of at the moment is one of the norwegian 90's,remember you will need the linkage off the rs4 box as well.
Speedometer Electronic
Capacity 2.7 litres
Specification Gear oil G 052 911 A SAE 75 W 90 (synthetic oil)
Clutch mechanism Hydraulic
Clutch plate dia. 240 mm
Drive shaft flange dia. 130 mm
I can't tell you what it is like as not tested working yet, but I did have to sort out a kit to make it fit my typ85 which cost more than the box
Cheers
Chris
Lol.... no I doubt it too.
But to be honest if I can get the car to work properly in the other gears, I quite like the idea of having 6th as a real overdrive. I am lead to believe this is where I can really get the benefits of having extra low C/R of 7:1 to make full use of this gearing. It will be worth trying if nothing else? When caning it, you don't tend to use 5th and 6th anyway.
Cheers
Chris
