On my 1993 S4 1st gear has started whining - loudly. Also I have a faint whine from the front especially on the motorway: diff I presume.
I hear that the 1995 or so boxes have a stronger 1 gear. Is this a conversion I can do on my box? where can I buy a ge****t and maybe full service kit (bearings and such) for this 6 speed box. I plan on going 400kW next week. What problems should I expect and how to get around them (reinforcing etc). I DO NOT DRAG. the car is for track events and ghymhanas. I accept that I have to be very carefull with 1st gear (hopefully skidpan will be OK) How much torque can the box handle in the high gears?I'm running a single mass flywheel with stock clutch and pressure plate, primarily because I want a replaceble "weak point" in the drivetrain.
