S2 3b, Gearbox 01A to CBL

Need some info on parts needed for my convertion to a CBL Gearbox, after browsing the forum for answers I'm a bit confused.

My car is an S2 3b 1991 whit 01A / ARV gearbox, 5 speeder,

To get a 6 speed CBL box to fit
(Do I need and new propscarft, new gearbox mount, ect)

Please help.

From memory... yes you will need correct propshaft (from 6-speed Coupe), 01E gearbox mounts and probably front subframe as well. The 5-speed subframe has differences somewhere - can't recall details... You may be able to modify it instead. Oh and make sure to use the bellhousing bolts from the old 5-speed box... The 6-speed ones are longer as they expect a DM flywheel that you don't have.

you will need the gear linkage from the 6sp as well,V6 subframe works with the 6 speed box.V6 has reinforced sections on as well, for some reason.

I have a spare 3b subframe.

If its possible to modify the subframe, whats the modifycation.?


Is the 6 speed propshaft shorter or longer. ?


Can the shift linkage be modifyed to suit. ?

dont see why not,if i was back home in england i could take some pics of the 2 subframes for you to see the difference.

6sp prop is shorter,i believe people have chopped the 5sp prop before and it has been ok.

never heard of the linkage been modded but again i dont see why not
