    I am guessing there is a special tool to remove the torque converter (if thats what it is called) from the block?

    Torque converter bolts are on the other side,
    you have to remove flywheel first

      If you mean this?



      Like Des says, it's bolted onto the flex plate by 4xM10 bolts which you reach through the starter motor hole, just keep turning the crank through 90° to reach the next bolt.

          Picture say it all!!
