01E into typ85

interesting thread for me too, I hope/guess it's the same story for an UrS4 6-speed GB in a 90 quattro typ 85?

Information I have been given is that the internals for the diesel were stronger than the petrol version for whatever reason. Ratios of the first three gears are actually the same. However, 4th and 5th ratios of the diesel box would not be suited for a petrol turbo powered car. I will therefore be changing these gears.
Can someone give me a good reference guide to the 01E gearbox?

i know this site is good resourse for info, but has it got schematics? Will be needed if pull gearbox apart (i won't be doing this myself).

Send me your e-mail address and will send full info. Article on this will be in the Audi Driver next month, out beginning of October. You do not need to change the subframe, but there are lots of parts you need. Tried to attach list hope it works.

Another article I did for mag on rear ARB back in 1997. Doing it this way gave me a 20mm rear roll bar and makes a dramatic difference to roll at rear AND also increases oversteer. BRILLIANT

Not quite sure what you are trying to say here?
Is the consensus to keep my subframes or modify further and go for the coupe ones?
As David has supplied me with loads of information, it seems the modified linkage without the need to go for the wider tunnel could be the way to go.
