    Diff Problems!

I have always noticed that the tyres sound like they are scrubbing a little when turning on full lock and presumed that it was normal so its not really worried me. I took the car out for a run yesterday for the first time in about three weeks and it really wasn't happy turning put of the drive(it felt as like one of the diff's wasn't working properly), after that there didn't seem to be any problem.
Is this a common problem?/any suggestions.
    Cheers
    Mike

sounds like you are having tracking issues.

This was mentioned by a few people on here, mostly at low speeds on lock especially on loose ground?

I used to get it quite bad when I was moving the s2 around (on the 19's) on gravel/hard tarmac.

Do you know if your tracking is ok? does the car handle fine apart from this?

I have no idea about the tracking and I think the suspension/bushes ect need looking at also. I have the parts, just need to get them fitted. I was just worried it might be a problem with the diff. I'll have to see how it goes with the new parts fitted.
          Cheers

When the rear diff on my 20v quattro sport got locked on I could hardly move the car forward so doubt its that, have you ever tried the diff lock to see if it works?

Worth trying so you can check it still works and rule that out.

If the rear diff was locked on you'd really know about it if doing anything other than a dead straight line.

It's pretty cold outside at the moment. Sounds quite normal to me, just the combination of cold oil in the torsen and the normal steering geometry on full lock. My car has always done this on full lock.

strange im for ever using the diff lock when turning, i tend to like show off my car by going into fields and then go "hah show me a bmw can do that" and then leave the lock on and car jumps about for few 100 yards until actuator pulls out

You will always find a four wheel drive car will sound a wee bit funny when trying to move in small tight spaces. you wanna try a Freelander..
