    Redline heavy shock gear oil

3rd gear on my 6 speed is starting to feel a little notchy, I am quite sure the fluids won't of been changed in any of my transmission for a decade so I'm going to use some of this :

Has anyone used it before or does anyone know of any reasons why it may not be suitable for the S2 gearbox ?

Basically a friend had a crunchy GTR gearbox and after replacing the oil to the Redline oil it never crunched again, even after upping the power to 450hp, its used harder than before and even on mega swift changes its as smooth as you would expect a gearbox to be so I'd like to think its possibly worth trying before looking into removing the box and replacing expensive internal components

I'm using Redline stuff, but not that particular grade. I'm using MT-90 stuff I think, and then just a normal graded oil in the rear diff. Think it was 75w-90 or something.

You have to be careful using what redline call "suitable for LSDs" when the torsen isn't really an lsd, so what may have worked for your mates GTR may not be the best for a Torsen.

I did notice a small difference though, gearchanges just generally smoother. So even the MT-90 stuff is pretty groovy.

      Thanks for your reply.

I think the GTR front diff is actually seperate from the gearbox, a bit like a Escort Cosworth for example but the S2 is all one unit if I'm right ? is the front a Torsen differential then or just the rear ? I didn't even think the front would of been any type of LSD tbh.

Good to hear it made it feel slightly better though, I'll do a bit more homework and probably add it to my list of things to get at the end of this month

Front and rear are open, it was the centre I was thinking about. Pretty sure the centre on the S2 shares oil with the main box. Probably the same on the Gtr. Only the Gtr will be some funky electric/viscous coupling. The S2 centre is the Torsen.

          It's been up before:

Red Line Heavy Weight Shockproof Gear Oil can be poured into bot rear diff and gearbox/torsen.

It will, as the name hints, be heavy when cold etc
