I've used the Fuchs Synthetic 75W 90 as its GL4 and GL5 compatible, and is a factory fill on a lot of modern german cars.
Improved my gearbox no-end, loads smoother from cold and on every shift - no longer crunches going into 3rd gear at high rpm as it did before either.

Original stuff that came out was thick black rancid goop, well worth a change IMO, but do you really need to spend £60+ for road use when there are other good synthetics that meet the right specs for a fraction of the cost?

Have 1/2 a meter of hosepipe and a little funnel handy for refilling the gearbox down the back of the engine bay

i just used Comma 75/90 diff oilt on the rear diff and was absolutely fine with change out of £9 if i remember, done the Ring and a couple of track sessions and no worries.

That box and diff oil is going to pong something bad rotten eggs city. I found it useful to fill, run the rear diff for 20 mile or so and then drain and refill.....it was just as black again after the first 20 mines so well worth it as when i looked again after refilling for the 2nd time it was nice and clean.

Many people in Germany use Castrol TAF - X and Castrol SAF-XJ IIRC.
