    Clutch Master Cylinder

Can anyone tell me, is there a seal kit available for the clutch master cylinder (ABY 6speed). If so, what's the part number.

While I'm asking questions, I need a bit of advice using the search function. Is it possible to stipulate that the search results contain both words in the search rather than just either of them. Have been wondering about this for a while, just never asked the question.

    Thanks

    Alistair

Was it the master cylinder that caused the prob with your clutch? ie couldn't get into gear when running- read your thread asking of the cause but there's no conclusion, u pulled the whole motor!

Not sure about the seal kit but may need one- i have the same symptoms

Audi don't stock a seal kit for the master cylinders. But I believe there are companies that sleeve and reseal them.

To be honest, not sure of the original problem with the clutch. Friction plate and pressure plate both seemed fine. Still some meat on the friction plate after 145k. Release bearing also looked fine.

I began to think it was the slave cylinder. Having not had a hydraulic clutch system apart before I was convinced it was the slave when I found the actuator rod wobbling in the cylinder. Didn't realise it was a floating rod.

Beginning to think it was a hydraulic problem, hence the questions on the master cylinder. Going to replace the slave on principle. Clutch will obviously be replaced.

Current master was a used part from S2ant. I still have the old one which had the classic actuator rod buckle problem. Thought I would overhaul that with new seals and swap the rods. That was if a seal kit was available.

I pulled the motor to clear the oil leaks, clean it up and check its condition before adding some RS2 bits. Lot of work. Engine's completely stripped now and I'm just hoping I can remember how to put it back together. hopefully the photo's I've taken will help.

        Cheers

just buy a new part. saves loads of blood sweat and tears.

nothing like a cheap or old part failing after a few days whilst on the road. tow truck.

I know, but it's costing me a fortune already. Admittedly, a lot of the cost is self inflicted but hopefully there will be a big smile at the end of it.

mine went a few weeks ago.

i bought a ECP part. my mate had the trade counter 3 times confim it was the correct part. it arrived it wasn't. i caqlled them and they said they dont do S2.

it had a smaller thread which i ground down a nut to fit. got it to work. it snapped after 4 days hence the post above. it snapped at the rubber nuckle due to being a badly made part.

got a part for vagparts and fitted it. it bled up perfectly first time, somethingh the otehr part wouldn't and had had a consistant action ever since.

these cars are not cheap to sort. my past scirocco and corrado stood me in good stead for this car. its cheaper thqan a corrado if thats any consolation.
