    6spd gearbox into 3B

I'm going to fit a 6spd ghearbox into my 3B in the next few weeks and I want to make sure I've got all the bits to do the job, I have:-

Gearbox from 94 Avant, with gearbox mounts.
    Propshaft from ABY coupe.
V6 front subframe with new bushes.
    Gearshift linkage from 6spd box
    New clutch slave cylinder.

After checking the FA I thought the drive shafts were the same, but Ross has just posted up that he changed his, so is this a must?
I'm leaving the clutch and flywheel on from the 3B, will this cause any problems?

You need to change the bearing in the flywheel. The 6 speed is a different size to the 5 speed on the input shaft so you need one for the 01E boxes IIRC

Just searching through and most of them reference the driveshafts.

Martinjs, Jeffer & Wabtheking have done this they'd be best to ask / search for.

is the aby prop shaft going to be long enough as the 6speed and aby have a spacer in between them if you are keeping the 3b fly wheel don't you need to take out the spacer. wont there be a gap between the gear box and prop ? or is one end on splines which will take it up

You can move the engine back slightly on the engine mounts to account for the spacer.

The spacer moves engine position not gearbox so the prop is not affected.

Andy's car is a 3B to start with so there is no spacer.

As Martin points out the engine legs are slotted.

I've just gone from ABY dualmass to 3B clutch flywheel and it's simply moved from the back to the front of the slot.

Just to update this now the job is done, the flywheel bearing was the same on mine so didn't need changing. 3B drive shafts also bolt straight to the CGR bearbox. One part that's not mentioned in any of the threads I found was the clutch hose. You really need the ABY item as the 3B one fouls the new shift linkage, I've bent mine out of the way until I can get the ABY hose. You will need to replace the whole hose from master to slave clyinder as the joints are in differnt places on 3B and ABY so you can't mix and match. Everything else just bolted on, didn't have to move the engine or modify the gearbox mounts.
Just need to sort out the electrical connectors so I can get the speedo and reverse lights working.

Excuse me for not remebering but couldnt you use the shift linkage from the S4 for mounting in our cars or did you need the S2 6 speed linkage for the s4 box? The old memory is getting worse and worse theese days

If you mean urS4 then no as the linkage ball joint is inverted. Only the S2/RS2 linkage is a straight fit.
