Nice quick and simple one, but one I cant seem to find the answer for, so I hope its not one of them stupid questions.
What percentage of the power is split between the front and the rear on the S2? Is it 50:50?

a torsen splits power 50:50 , the only thing that you can change is the bias, in our cars i believe its 1:2 but there is an upgrade from stasis that shifts up to 1:4 and limmits front bias, ie up to 80% rear or up to 60% front. sort of shifts the limmits and expands them, but the static bias if you call it that is always 50/50 on a torsen.

ATM I only have ~99:1 or up to 50:50, and no rear diff lock.
How does that work??
if your interested about how the torsen works i posted a link in the stasis upgrade thread about the workings. i dont know about the s2 specs but i would have thought 1:3 was a bit high....could be wrong though..

Doh.. me being a little dumb... and not understanding the science...
So does that mean on a normal bit of driving the power is split 50:50 ??
If so, can it change... and why... is it like more power goes to the rear if you're accelerating hard from a standstill, but more to the front if you're powering round a corner??
yes thats right, on normal driving its 50:50 and unfortunately using a torsen this cannot be changed, however when the unit sences more torque on either axel it will bias to the higher torque, this is what can be changed, as in 1:2 or 1:3 or 1:4 depending on what version you have, you can also limmit the bias, as in set the front that it can never accept more than 50% of the torque but the rear can accept up to 80%
as far as i know the only way to set a static bias of something other than 1:1 is with a viscous coupling, ie imprezzas and S3 or with advanced clutch type, ie new evos (i think) ect.
could be wrong about the applications there but my point is that you need viscous or clutch type differentials to change a static bias.
that said you can addapt the torsen ot be at a constant bias, as in constant 60:40 however this would overheat VERY quickly and not last long, even with an oil cooler.

Interesting replies there, thanks. I was asked about it in work on Thursday, and I didn't have an answer, so at least I've got something now
