I am going to be fitting an aby engine and gearbox into my type 85 cq, however I at the moment only want about 280 - 300 bhp but my goal is 400 bhp, what 3b clutch will do the trick, any recommendations and where to buy, I have a trade account with euro car parts so I could buy a standard one by sachs, but not sure on how the clutch will handle the power.
Used Sachs Racing Organic clutch. Handled 400bhp with no problems. Seemed to be holding out ok with 500+ but never really drove it long enough with that power to justify any pproper feedback.
Was a 'little' on heavy side

I spoke to Helix about clutches. They recommended their race/rally option for that power level, again, £450-£500. I will be getting something similar for a 3B FW when I get my engine rebuilt.

I just spoke to Eurocar parts and they can do a LUK clutch for a 3b for just under £200, is this good, How good is the clutch, anyone tried these before, if so is the pedal feel good? And how much power can this take?
Just spoke to LUK and they only recommend that clutch for a standard S2 only.
hi,I must to change the clutch from my car, a S6 c4 1996 , what you recommend?(I do not have so much money )
I want to put a chip after I change the clutch.
sorry for offtopic
Pedal feel on my 3B luk clutch is awful. It's handling 330ftlbs on a much heavier car so you'll be fine for a stock or chipped ABY on a much lighter car. I paid just over 150 for a genuine one 2 years ago but they're NLA I think.
Aelred can get your clutch remanufactured but at a cost.
I'm currently looking for the best value upgraded clutch and have not reached a decision other than I'll be avoiding Spec.

This is the one I am using in my Cq and had no problems with it so far. Unless you are going to aim for upwards of 350Lb/ft torque the standard LUK clutch will be fine.

I have my aby clutch and flywheel , but most of the recommendations are to get a 3b flywheel and clutch, can I use a 3b clutch with my aby flywheel? I also have heard bad things about spec clutches, I will see if apracing do one.
i ve finally got my clutch out of the car.
Turns out its not uprated as the guy who fitted it said, but a standard Luk one.
I won t be shopping there again
Sent it off to Kestrel transmissions to get the job done
fingers crossed, and i may change my starting technique too!
