I'm trying to remove the prop form the rear diff as I want to drop the rear diff and sub frame out. I have managed to undo 4 of the 6 bolts but I can't get the last two to move at all. If I were to cut the heads of the bolts would it be possible to remove the diff, then remove whats left of the bolts from the diff housing.
cheers,
mike
in theory, yes - I removed mine a couple of months back and even though all the bolts were out - the thing was still stuck solid took a lot of tugging - believe me!
Use a bigger and bigger bar till you break it, run out of space or a bigger bar isn't available. Then apply heat, WD40, fire and wrath!
BUT,
It was a problem with rounded nuts. I tryed bolt exctractors but they didn't work on the round allen key heads. Then tryed beating them off with a coal chizzle, that didn't work either so they have been cut off.
My prop bolts were seized solid and just rounded when I applied any torque. I just beat an old socket onto each one and they came off easy. It took a while to do all 12.
