  • Any body used Techniclutch? (ebay)

Im going to be doing a 3b flywheel conversion on my coupe soon, and so will need a new clutch.
Has anybody used a techniclutch clutch in their s2? Ive heard mixed reports about techniclutch, i think it very much depends on the application. Very reasonable for £130???

I read alot of negative press and decided to give them a miss for a replacement 3B clutch recently; ended up using the old one as they're NLA with Audi

Another member used one recently, ended up replacing it after a week if I believe! Depends if you can change it easily, may be worth a try, but if you're paying for labour I'd do it once properly.

I had a feeling that would be the general concensus. So people rate the sachs unit. But NLA, great!!!
What clutches can anybody recommend. Im looking for value here too. cost is a big factor.

How much is just a friction plate from LUK/Sachs?

I was just thinking that the techniclutch pressure plate looked to be pretty Heavy duty, the spring fingers look pretty beefy. What about a techniclutch/LUK/Sachs combo??

My Audi OE 3B clutch was LUK, not Sachs

Speak to Aelred, he can remanufacture your old clutch to any spec.

Can anyone get me the part numbers off the LUK clutch, as I go past there on my way to work every day and could make some enquiries.

@andy, unfortunately, as you know i currently have a ABY clutch therefore remanufacture aint possible as i will be doing the SMF conversion at the same time.
Any idea how much a Sachs clutch kit is? or how much the Sachs friction plate is? So i can think about the techniclutch sachs hybrid jobby.

Am i right in saying that the technology that goes into a clutch and how good or bad the clutch is, is mainly down to the friction plate material and how well the friction plate is made? And a little bit down to simply how strong the fingers are on the pressure plate? Thus a techniclutch pressure plate may be very good but the friction plate pants. in which case the techniclutch/sachs combo may work?

Right, I'd source a stock Sachs and get the flywheel face skimmed, I think a lot of failures are due to the friction mating surfaces not been as clean as possible. Might be possible to get a 3B complete clutch and FW and then send it to Aelred for lighten and remanufacture, not cheap tho!

This should help, there are clutches on Eb_y.de and Austria for 250euros.

Part numbers I found are in this thread on Audi-NLA.

The part number on there 324 0080 10 is correct for the individual part of friction plate.
