No difference whatsoever. No clicking on full lock in either direction.

Don't think it's outer cv. Never had an inner one go so don't know the symptoms.

I have the same problem, but only diference is that it gets worse on full load. Interesting thing is that it doesnt start if you dont push it realy hard. You have to use full boost and then it starts. Any ideas?

Mine doesn't seem to be load related. Just noisier with more speed. Will check the load theory tomorrow to be sure.

Well the car is now off the road until this is sorted. Just thinking ahead in case it's a driveshaft/cv joint problem? Are the front driveshafts for the coupe the same as the avant. Are the left and right driveshafts the same?

          Thanks

Need some help now. I've got the front nearside in bits to a certain extent. Wheel, caliper and disc is off. When I run just that wheel it's very difficult to hear where the grinding/rumbling noise is coming from. There is also a squeal from the bearing housing.

I fitted a new bearing a couple of months ago so I doubt it's that but not totally ruling it out. The driveshaft has a very slight wobble in it, but not a lot.

Could a worn inner or outer be producing this noise? Any other suggestions? Direction of the wheel makes no difference at all.

            Thanks

            Alistair

The front wheel bearing was completely fubar-ed. Couldn't believe how badly the track was damaged. Showed it to someone in work and he thought it looked like there may have been gas pockets below the surface which had broken up. Don't know enough about bearing manufacture to comment myself.
Still waiting to sort the driveshaft but that doesn't seem to be making any noticable difference.

The really good news is that after nine years of ownership I have finally cured the brake groaning noises. As mentioned in another thread it was the pads sitting slightly too far out from the hub and hanging over the outer edge of the disc. This allowed a lip to build up on the pad which even when the pads retracted, still made slight contact with the outside edge of the disc. Bit like the wet finger on a wine glass effect.

Hope this may be of help to others.
