Clutch gone or slave cylinder?

after driving this morning with no problems a i have spent the day doing odds and ends to the car (nothing on engine or transmission) and just finished when i thought id just take it out for a blapp.
Engage 1st gear and release clutch.......nothing happens. The car revvs in all gears but goes nowhere and makes a wurring noise. the speedo will still work too. im thinking my clutch is feked.
Anyone had the pleasure of this happening to them? also how much am i looking at to replace?

if the clutch had gone you wouldnt be able to put the car in gear when running.

I think Wab is right, especially if the speedo is still showing speed even though your stationary.

problem fixed!!!!!!! i had taken the nearside front strutt off yesterday and long story short the driveshaft had popped out of the cv joint.
all put back together (cv boot grease is the WORST thing) and driving fine, apart from my inner cv boot being feked!

at least its not 500 notes down the pan
