    How do you mean align?

There's the length adjustment in the middle of the bar to centre the gearstick longitudinally and the plate under the gearstick for lateral alignment.

The ball joint on the box can be a faff, mine had to be popped on at an angle I'm thinking a rose joint would be a better option there.

From under the car there is one bolt on the bottom of the lever. All you do is slack the nut off, adjust the lever to the correct position and re tighten the nut. You will need somebody to hold the lever in position while you do it. I read a procedure somewhere about setting the correct position, it was something like 15 degree angle towards the drivers, and slightly back. I just set it in the position that felt right, then double checked you can easily select all gears after adjustment.

the joint in the linkage rod also has splines where the two piece join, you need to get it on at the right angle.

I'll take a pic of mine as it came off car if that could help James?

Yeah it's not quite as andy made out, as the car was origanly 5 speed. It's very far out and needs alot of adjustment. I have a aby here I can copy. I just thought that there was some quick easy way lol.

Still not having much luck with this, the Ball joint keeps wanting to jump off.

I had this, took ages to get it on. I took the lever off the box and manipulated the BJ in to place. HTH

I'm quite calm despite the reputation of us gingers and I want absolutely mad at one point. The car was on a ramp and we were nearly lifting it up with the force that was applied to that ball, even used a transmission stand was used as a lever at one point!

Put it in neutral (in the center) and then tighten hard , make sure the gearbox itself is in neutral too ofc, this should not be a problem, if it pops off, check the teeth on the linkage if it is worn. if not, use glue

I meant the linkage spline , didn't know which part you had issues with, just assumed it was that one
