3B engine and 6 speed box problem

I am having a bit of a pita trying to get the two to work together.

    Here is the problem,

When the 2 faces are put together the engine becomes unturnable by hand.

    I have checked the following

    :Throw out bearing
    :Fly wheel alignment
    :Slave cylinder removed
    :NOT in gear

I have also removed it and checked that there is no rubbing and nothing!

Please help this is driving me nuts

    Cheers James

How easily do the two pull together? Do they meet with out winding the bolts in? If not do the bolts need a lot of effort to pull the two together? Have you worked clearance the six speed input shaft needs beyond the bellhousing and into the flywheel/crank? That last one might seem dim if the input shaft does not protrude from the bellhousing on a six speed but I have little or no experience with that type having only ever had 5speed 3Bs.

you probly know these things as well as most james.

take it its not a dual mass therefore needing the spacer?

maybe a matter of seeing if you can blue it up and see if there is contact.

how about the spacer on the crank pulley missing and some crank walk type thing.

is it pulling the crank in when it is tightened up applying pressure to the pulley side against that cover.

The engine does turn when not bolted up doesn't it?

The crank pulley is a Pace iteam, its been spaced out to the closest tho.

So i cant see that being a issue. It could only hit the oil pump which it is clear of.

The engine turns fine by hand.

The issue is only when the two are together.

Fly wheel bearing also brand new

Do you mean the front drive shafts? Even if its in gear they will do that as its an open diff. Can you rotate the gearbox input shaft by hand incase the issue is with the gearbox itself?

you need the spacer between the tranny and the engine; some of the 6tr trannys does hane this.... or you have too thick flywheel, you got about 7different thickness of theese.

Do you know which boxes require spacers?

I would say the front outputs are even more likely to turn in opposite directions if the box is in gear, as that will present a greater resistance to the ring gear rotating. Might be worth getting a couple of friends to rotate all the outputs in the correct direction to see how much resistance there is.

(Also if it's in first or reverse, the resistance on the input side will be much less than trying to turn the outputs)
