    01E 6 speed into typ85

    Hi,
I am in the process of installing an 01E 6 speed (diesel ) into my typ85 90q.
I am keeping my 4 stud setup and have bought a special kit to allow me to fit the box without the need to modify the tunnel.
Apparently, slightly longer driveshafts are needed and this is achieved by using 20vCQ units which are a direct fit into my inner flange allowing me to use original CV joints (taking 3mm off the flange is required).
Some concerns have been raised whether or not this solution will hold up with the power/torque levels I hope to run (around 500).
THe alternative solution is to use the flanges and CV joints from an S2, but as far as I am aware, the splines on my typ85 driveshafts are different.
Are there any BTDT solutions out there?
    Many thanks

    hi chris

other than what you have stated you could try drivelink in gateshead. they specialise id shafts and will make some for you up to f1 standards. i was to have a set built for my 16vt and they were about 400 quid. they will friction weld and balance too. Also do a cv strengthening service.

Well, due to lack of funds, was hoping for a cheaper solution, but I will bear that in mind thanks.

they were for the best front shafts. they did a few stages IIRC. it was like custom road, rally and f1. a few years ago so...

friction welding will make a shaft out of 2 very well. its cheap too
