90 4 Stud to 5 Stud, is it worth it?

The Audi 90 S2 I'm currently rebuilding is fitted with the original 4 stud hubs.
I'm about to order some big brakes for it and wondered if I should be fitting the 5 stud hubs and ordering a kit with the bells to suit???
It already has a Compbrake 315mm x 28 4 pot conversion on the front that I would like to modify to fit the rear, but it suits the 4 stud hubs rather than the 5???
Should I stick with 4 studs or are they destined for failure?

    Paul.

chat on audifans about something very similar, chap with a SC'ed 2.8 is about to shift to focus RS discs and BMW 740 calipers. I do think there is a chap here with a type 85 with a similar setup.

is there really a problem redrilling the 5x112 disks to 4x108? i know some of the bolt holes will cover up, i think the bolts are not holding the disk from turning around when braking, but the pressure by the wheel pressing the disk to the hub is?

        What he said

Only big issue is getting wheels big enough, but even they can be welded and redrilled

currently thinking about this, need do two wheels bearings and my 10v brakes wont fit the 20v front hubs and seems reasonable as wouldn't mind fitting set avus wheels

i have a c4 100 which was going use the front hud of on the front my 90 along its brakes for now and was looking getting rear huds and brakes of a c4 s4 anyone know this is possible combo?

true, but et 25 is still ok, sits perfectly on the back (avant/limo), and there is still 10mm space available on the front.

you have ford and peugeot with 4x108 with ET over 30 even over 40...

I'm having the same debate with my B2 90, shall I go through with the conversion to 5 stud via S2/UR Q struts, wishbones etc having to find out what fits what then decide on a brake set up to match as I would really like to fit 16" Avus wheels to mine, or keep the 4 stud pattern and buy uprated shocks and springs Koni along with his mate H&R and fit a Wilwood kit front and back??.. Decisions Decisions

I've redesigned the hub flanges for type85 and about to send Bambridge the engineering drawings to get quotes about sets. standard 4stud strut and bearing fitment but with 5x112 pcd. Hopefully a set of 4 will work out cheaper than buying full S2 struts and shafts (you can use original driveshafts with these). Not yet measured the Type89 hub flanges I have here, but i'll get bearing and shaft spline sizes and see if they are same, if not may design a type89 conversion set too.

well tried the 100 huds this morning dont work, the 90 20v flanges have too much offset and the 100 flanges have so little it hits the carrier before the hud fully in the bearing

looks like should ignored idea two piece struts and forged front bones could just keep my crap 256mm fronts and pressed bones

spigot rings would take up the difference fo rthe center bore handy but surely et25 coul only run 7 inch rim at least on a ty89
