    Need front diff to dragracing

I have an Audi urS4 6speed tranny in my mid engine dragracing/street car and only use the front diff and the center diff was welded. No my front diff to was welded and I dont like it... I have read about the torsen diff from Audi v8 rear diff but i dont think it works with 700whp on dragstrip and I will not pay $800 four an quaif diff and maybe it break the first race =/ Now i wonder if the rear diff from audi s2/s4 fits in my tranny? I can use the v8 torsen diff in the rear diff on an audi s2? And i can use same torsen diff in my tranny to front diff, also I can use an s2 rear diff in the front? And maybe use the mechanical locking mechanism in the front whit som modds? Maybe use a wire.. possible?

    Kind regards

Torsen is the centre and rear diff only... all front diffs are non lockable with normal slip.
If its mid engined you wont be using centre diff anyway, and it would take alot of custom manufacturing to make a lockable front diff.

700whp sounds an awful lot... whats the spec of engine and power at the flywheel?

          is that you Foffa?

i know Quaife makes the front LSD. and the fastest Quattro S2 on the planet runs one with well over 700 AWHP and doesnt break it.

look into Tomi Paavola on youtube.... or look for posts by Jyrki (Repo on here) he built the car (IIRC).

this is the specs of the car, BTW. http://www.compturbo.com/gallery/ind...avola%20Racing

Yes I know but I have a 6speed s4/rs2 gerarbox mounted already, and the center diff was welded. That torsen I write about is as I said are from the rear diff at Audi V8.

This is the car.. and 600whp+ is probably better, I goning to tune the engine in a Dynapack for a few weeks with the new engine. I hate the paint and stickers on the car, its from the previous owner.. best run 10.41. http://www.pure-pf.com/phpBB2/viewto...&highlight=mr2

Just pic of the old engine..

have a search on some of the GT40 / kitcar forums as i'm sure some have used FWD Audi 01E trannys with their big V8s as well as Porsche 01Es and the 016 based transaxles from the 994 etc for a strong MR engine set-up

Stock 968 used an open diff, the 968cs had a torsen type diff - most of the cup racers upgrade to a "traditional" plate type LSD.
I can potentially get my hands on a used 968 plate type LSD later in the year but not sure if it will fit the Audi 01E without modification and not sure how it would be setup - ramp angles etc.

Personally if you have a choice I wouldn't be using a Quaife ATB, its a road differential. A plated version is ideally what you want imo
