    Unbreakable rear driveshaft ??

I have a question about driveshaft strenght. I have my car shown on project section, is a b4 quattro, which will have over 600hp, and it will be used for drag - 402m. Problem is the rear driveshaft are smaller than the s2 ones, and also the rear hubs, does not allow larger driveshaft to be installed. Probably one solution will be using the rs2 rear hubs, and rs2 driveshaft or custom stronger ones (as is used in the front) , or what other alternative is there ? AFAIK there is a USA member, using a cq for drag ? with same 4x108 rear layout ? what is he using for rear driveshaft ? Any advice from guys who BTDT , will be welcomed .

Im running http://www.a1cvtech.com/ axles made specially for CQ, rear hubs did got modified to accept bigger cv, I did manage to brake them tho, this year Marco made a new set for me using hallow shaft, that means it should be stronger, because it will twist before braking. Try contact him, stuff was pretty cheap, compeered to another suppliers, and it took some serious abuse. Best 60ft 1.6, in a 3375 lbs car for 30 passes or so

How much did you enlarge the rear bearing housing ? and what cv joint have you used on the wheel side ? . It can be made custom in here , but i was searching for onshelf alternative, like rs2, driveshaft, providing that they are stronger ?

          Update sugestion needed.

I speaked with the guy from Cp-services. Basicaly the problems seems to be like that, i have b4 quattro, and the rear suspension layout / subframe, is the same as s2 avant , so basicaly this will not fit ? Is there any diference between s2avant rear driveshaft (lenght) and s2 one ? i always have the solution of a custom hub, which will fit any cv joint i want, bat $$$ and time. I have about 1 week to solve this

Do you have the 75mm bearing or 82?

im sure the kit does not include 82mm hub housings. so get some 2.6 or 2.8 hub housing that are 4x108, and you can install s2/rs2 driveshafts without buying that kit...

Housing are not a problem, can buy it, or can machine the actual ones, the cv joint, and axles , will not hold. I found also a complet s2avant subframe, and axles - aprox 340E plus shiiping, but i want something which will HOLD, it is more expensive to do the work 3times, than 1 time, with good parts.

PS, also i bought a complete 2.6 v6 rear subframe, same thinkg, the housing, and axles, are the smaller ones (75mm bearings) , maybe is not for all cars the same, i mean not for all the years, maybe the newer ones are with bigger housing/bearings/cv joint.

strange, all above 150hp should have the larger bearings. try the 2.8 ones...

                        what Janis said above..... fasterthenRS2.

we had them made from Marco @ A1-CVTech. they work great.

mine is drag only, Janis street driven. mine >600 AWHP. i launch @ 6800 rpm with 15psi (>1BAR) on 4 slicks, and i get 1.46 to 1.51 best 60's.

they made front and rears for us. still with 4 x 108 hubs, etc.

and my car with driver is 2840 pounds.

here are a couple pics of them during fabrication.

Yes, i saw that you are using some custom driveshaft, but the rear layout of b4, is not the same as your cq , and even if that is not a problem, i dont think that the rear driveshafts have the same leght with the cq ones, or s2 . I am trying to acces, some tecdoc, or something to see exactly , can you send me a pm , with how much did it cost you ? - i already have stronger driveshaft on the front, but it tooked a few good weeks, to get the axles made.

i dont recall how much i paid for them, i had a whole lot of stuff done at that time....

                            i will ask Marco though....

and they are not equal length, no.

and so far i have not broken or twisted any..... but Janis has. his car is 600 pounds heavier though and was on DR's while i am on slicks.

if you dont do launch controls and drag races.. the lifetime of the oem driveshafts will be enough? talking about 600Hp cars and 1500Kg...
